The Green Team Receives Grant for Over £6,800

The Green Team at Roythornes head office recently welcomed members of the Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) programme to mark their efforts to reduce energy use.

The Spalding team were considering the merits of improving energy efficiency by installing LED lighting and approached BEE to conduct an energy efficiency review to help them identify potential energy saving measures that could deliver cost reductions.

Following a visit from a BEE advisor, a site review confirmed that a significant carbon reduction would be possible by retrofitting LED lighting throughout the building.

Roythornes secured a grant of £6,876 from the BEE programme that enabled the business to invest £27,500 in the lighting upgrade project. Roythornes are set to make estimated cost savings of up to £5,000 per annum, and carbon savings of 13.5 tonnes. The LED lighting has also created a much-improved working environment for the staff.

Commenting on receiving the grant, Ann Barrasso, Operations Director at Roythornes Solicitors said, “We were guided through the application process by BEE and given support prior to and during the project. Being awarded the grant allowed Roythornes to undertake the project to achieve immediate carbon and financial savings together with providing an improved light quality for our staff.”

Since the Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) programme launched in Spring 2017, the programme has supported over 200 SMEs, identifying cost savings of over £1.2million and potential carbon reductions of over 6,000 tonnes.

Using funding secured from the European Regional Development Fund, BEE offers a free audit service to help small and medium sized enterprises identify energy saving opportunities. Businesses who look to invest in capital projects to improve energy efficiency can access a grant scheme offering up to £20,000 in financial support.

Grant funding is available for a number of measures including; LED Lighting; Heating & Cooling; Insulation; Solar PV & Battery Storage; and Electric Vehicles.

The project is being delivered by the environmental charity PECT, in partnership with Nwes.
