Wilcox Commercial Vehicles Ltd today hosted members of the Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) programme at their site in Market Deeping to mark their recent efforts to reduce energy use. The local manufacturer of aluminium bodywork for rigid and tipping trailers contacted BEE for support to improve energy efficiency across the business. Following a site visit and advice from one of the BEE advisor team, Wilcox submitted a successful grant application to secure a 25% contribution towards the costs of a number of energy efficiency measures.
The grant has enabled Wilcox to retrofit LED lighting, install a more efficient heating system and replace windows. These measures will reduce energy use significantly and eliminate around 10 tonnes of carbon emissions, as well as saving Wilcox over £5,000 a year in reduced energy costs.
Commenting on receiving the grant, Vito Ronzano, Managing Director at Wilcox said, “The grant process has been simple and straightforward, with help along the way from the grants team. I would recommend that other businesses apply for funding to help with their energy saving projects through BEECP’.
Since the Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) programme launched in Spring 2017, the programme has supported 97 SMEs to identify cost savings of over £550,000 and potential carbon reductions of over 2,650t. That's the equivalent of 535 flights from London to Sydney!
Using funding secured from the European Regional Development Fund, BEE offers a free audit service to help small and medium sized enterprises identify energy saving opportunities. Businesses who look to invest in capital projects to improve energy efficiency can access a grant scheme offering up to £20,000 in financial support.
The project is being delivered by the environmental charity PECT, in partnership with Groundwork and Nwes.
