Meet the Team - Emma Taylor
Meet Emma Taylor, Financial Claims Manager for Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge and Peterborough.
What is your favourite thing about working for the BEE project?
It’s great to work on a project with such a positive aim- helping businesses to improve their energy efficiency. I also really enjoy working with the rest of the project team.
What is your background?
I’ve been at PECT since 2014, working in a variety of support roles for business and community projects. Most recently, I worked on a fuel poverty project in the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire area, and beforehand, a resource efficiency project working with businesses in Lincolnshire. Before joining PECT, I worked as Funded Projects Officer at the Woodland Trust, which was very similar to my current role as Financial Claims Manager. I carried out claiming, monitoring and contract compliance work for a range of externally-funded environmental projects.
What would your best piece of advice be to businesses?
Make use of the free support on offer- the BEECP project is a fantastic opportunity to get advice and potentially a grant.
Why do you feel it’s important for businesses to become greener?
I think it’s important for everyone- it’s something that affects all of us…. Energy efficiency also offers the opportunity for businesses to make really significant cost savings in the long term.
What would you be doing if you weren’t working on the BEE project?
I’ve worked in quite a few different roles in the past- in museums and galleries and then as a Project Manager in Children’s Services- but I am really happy where I am! So I’d probably be doing another grants or projects role in the charity sector.
If you could have any super power, what would you choose?
I’d love to be able to teleport!
